Biohacking: Is It Really an Alternative Medicine Lifestyle? Some people believe it is just another “alternative medicine” lifestyle. I disagree. The history of biohacking goes way beyond the term we use today to describe it. In fact, if we go back in time, village healers all over the world used the natural world around them to help people feel better. Long before formal scientific methods emerged, biohacking was already woven into everyday life through herbs, remedies, and early medicinal practices.
As the art of science developed, biohacking gradually became an industry that split into two paths: the formally trained and the not-so-formally trained. On one side, you have traditional, medically trained professionals. On the other, holistic healers and alternative practitioners. Personally, I think both should come together—they’re not opposites, but complementary ends of the same spectrum. Together, they can offer a balanced approach to health and wellness.
What Is Biohacking, Really?
Today, I stumbled across an article from Forbes that defines biohacking as, “various tips and tricks for enhancing the body’s ability to function at peak performance.” Naturally, this sent me spiraling down a rabbit hole of research!
Here are a few key things I’ve learned along the way:
Biologics: Where Science Meets Nature
Biologics are medicines derived from living organisms, such as proteins purified from blood or culture systems. These differ from traditional medicines, which are usually synthetic or extracted from plants. In other words, biologics are a scientific evolution of natural remedies.

Lifestyle Hacks: The Basics of Biology Short-cut
At its core, biohacking often starts with the fundamentals—lifestyle changes. Exercise, sleep, and diet are the big three. Simply improving these elements can already optimize your health and performance. But biohackers take it up a notch by fine-tuning everything down to the smallest detail. Think sleep trackers, customized nutrition plans, and workouts designed specifically to boost brain function.
Molecular Biohacking: Enhancing Biology From the Inside Out
Molecular biohacking uses both natural and synthetic substances to enhance biological functions. This could include vitamins, minerals, or peptides, substances that influence everything from your energy levels to your skin health. It’s like giving your cells a little extra fuel to perform at their best. My favorite SNAPS to help me feeling my best can be found here

Tech-Savvy Hacking: The Future Is Now
When you hear “biohacking,” one of the first things that may come to mind is tech—like wearable devices that track your health. But it doesn’t stop there. Biohacking also includes embedded technology, like microchips or implants, that interact directly with your body to enhance its performance. This is the intersection of biology and hacking, pushing the boundaries of human potential.
Is it a bit too sci-fi for some people? Sure. But it’s a rapidly growing part of the biohacking world, offering cutting-edge ways to optimize health.
My Take: Stay Natural, Do No Harm
As much as I appreciate the science and tech behind biohacking, I lean toward staying as natural as possible. My motto? Do no harm—or as little as possible. While I do respect those who explore more invasive forms of biohacking, I prefer to rely on products and methods that align with nature.
I’ve found a variety of products that have helped me in my daily life, from supplements to wearable devices. If you’re curious, I’ve compiled a small index on My Bio-hacking page here to show you what these products can do to enhance your well-being.
