How to Splice A Video Using Canva

How to Splice a video will show you how to cut down a longer video into a smaller video. You will also see a transition being added as well as a beginning and ending added with audio. Hopefully using the free version of Canva, you will be able to become more efficient in your work. Don’t forget to bookmark the main page for this series. It will update when we have more content to add. As learning is one of my favorite things, this should be fairly regular. Follow below for quick easy steps to splice a video.

How to Splice A Video Using Canva

  • Open design in Free version of Canva
  • Choose Blank Video
  • Open Three Cards (push the + at the end of the white card)
  • On left hand of screen choose button that has template and look for premade template to start your video (Intro). After choosing, alter to have your text and such as we did in Create Meme Training in this series.
  • Now go to uploads, and upload your longer video. You will have to download the video to your computer before you upload it into Canva.
  • After the upload, choose that to go into the second card. This is where the magic happens.
  • Watch your video through. Push pause when you want to cut the video. Use the “S” key to slice the video.
  • Once you have sliced, the end of the slide (card) will show 3 small dots when you hover your cursor. Choose the dots and delete the slide you do not want.
  • Add an outro card from Templates after you shortened your video to preference.
  • Add transitions by hovering cursor between cards and choosing the bottom button option. Choose your transition.
  • To add audio, Slide down the left menu to audio. Choose which clip you want by sampling on left side of song title. When you decide, click on right side of song title.
  • Once audio is on the video, edit by clicking the audio bar and following the buttons. Pretty simple, and if you mess up, ok, start again. It is free.
