The Spirit of Giving
The Spirit of Giving: There is a special kind of energy that rises when people come together to help someone in need. I felt it years ago when I organized old school benefits for families facing fires, cancer, sudden loss or heartbreaking emergencies. The magic was always the same. Community showed up. People gave what they could. Hope lifted the room.
That same spirit is alive today in the work of Tree City Cats, a small TNR rescue in Kent, Ohio. Two determined women do the work many admire yet few are brave enough to shoulder. They trap. They transport. They fund vet care. They hand feed. They shelter. They socialize. They rehome every cat and kitten they can possibly reach. It is the old school benefit, still going, with whiskers. And it runs on the exact same magic. Community shows up. People give what they can. Hope lifts the room.
Giving with Intention
Giving is powerful when it is guided by love. When you give to a rescue like Tree City Cats, your kindness lands somewhere you can see it. A spay that prevents a hundred homeless kittens. A vet bill that saves one small life. A warm shelter bed for a cat who has never known one.
This is the spirit of giving at its purest. No middleman. No platform taking a cut. Just your heart reaching straight for the paws that need it.
Ways You Can Help
Every rescue runs on the same three fuels: money, time, and voices. Here is how you can give each one.
Give. Donations go directly to Tree City Cats through Venmo at venmo.com/u/tree_city_cats. Every small kindness becomes a glowing ember that guards their warmth.
Adopt or foster. The bravest gift is a home. Ask them who is ready, and share their adoptables with anyone who might have room in theirs.
Lend your voice. Share their posts and tell their story. You are the storyteller of their mission, and your share might be the one that finds a cat its person.
This is your circle. You fill it how you feel called to.
Who You Can Support
Giving is powerful when it is guided by love. My heart keeps returning to:
• Animal rescues and shelters
• Children’s programs and families in crisis
• Elderly communities and care needs
• First responders who spend their lives serving others
• Individuals in sudden need
• Local groups, clubs, teams or creative projects
• Entire nonprofits who need recurring help
These are my favorites to support. These are the hearts I always return to. But your cause can be anything that calls to you.
No Middleman, Just Heart
Just like everything on this site, this is built heart first. Donations go straight to the rescue. Nobody here takes a cut for caring.
This mirrors the energy of the benefits I used to organize in person. Everyone gave what they could. No one was charged for trying to help someone else. That spirit remains here.
