Dogs

So those who know me, know I love animals. Doesn’t matter the shape, size, or color. It doesn’t even matter the species. I will want to pet and want to feed it. I, like most people I know, have grown up around dogs. The household I was born into already had at least one dog. Dogs teach us how to be better people! Nothing can make a little giggle escape in bad times as easy as a dog!

First Dogs

The first dog I remember was a Great Dane. She would play with me, and keep me company. Accordingly, she had assisted in my walking fairly early. I would hold on to her ears while she slowly backed up and then I would pop up. The Great Dane breed is considered a “Giant Breed”, but they are one of the sweetest that I have met.

Mom’s Dogs

Mom’s Dogs were many! She was a dog lover before I was a thought. It runs in our family. Before I moved out of her house, we had an Afgan, Doberman, Pug, Great Dane. These dogs were all loved and part of our family. Yoda, the Pug, was the only small one we had. Knowing what I know now, both my mother and I believe he had some kind of mental delay.

My Dogs

My dogs were all medium-sized dogs to me. They ranged between 60 – 100 lbs. When I lived on the farm, we had mixed breeds that needed someone to love them. They were loved. To me, they seemed small. But, they had a great time running around and mixing with the cattle and horses. They even left the free-roaming chickens alone! Very good dogs.

Current Dogs

Now, the household has a “Dalmation Mix”, that is what the county considered him when he was born. Jax is about 5 years old and a very sweet boy. Then there is Newton. He is small. I have started the second half of my century, so I figured I wanted a “scoopable” dog. This 10-pound creature is a blast! If I would have known small dogs were so much fun, I would have found them sooner! I am learning how to groom him, as he has very tight curly hair. His daddy was a Poodle and his mom was a Cavachon (King Charles Spaniel mixed with Bichon Frisé). His hair is super soft and fuzzy with a very tight curl. Daily brushing, he hates it! Weekly trims, which he will tolerate for a very short time. No buzzers allowed! Everything is scissor work, and it takes forever! I use Miel on his paw pads when we are walking daily on the concrete or in the cold. That is the only part of grooming he doesn’t mind! The foot massages are tolerated.

Sunday is Hair Trim Day!
